" Cattle , A French heritage" 15 years of photographs Agricultural Show
Every year since 1990 , breeders and their animals found Yann Arthus-Bertrand on International Agricultural Show in Paris and pose in front of a brown tarp. This exhibition of 100 drawings helps us to better understand the men who daily enrich the diversity of practices , landscapes and races.
The photographs in the exhibition are from the book " Cattle - a French Heritage" published by Editions Du Chene . This reference book presents more than 130 species of sheep, goats, beefs , pigs, donkeys and horses . The photographs are accompanied by documented descriptions, written by Gérard Larcher, passionate rural and animal world , and Caroline Charon , believes journalist need to preserve regional traditions.
Fascinated by the work of memory , Yann Arthus-Bertrand wants to testify through this series , unity and diversity of French races and prepare an inventory of a changing world. Every picture tells a unique story and reveals the untold complicity between the owners and their animals their land. At the time of productivism its limits , both social and environmental terms and in terms of food security , this work defends the diversity of agricultural practices and it is not this is an outdated vision but to a supporting statement for the future. Yann Arthus -Bertrand invites us to reflect on our relationship with the agriculture that feeds us and invites us to wonder about its future for us all .
