This year the GoodPlanet Foundation, chaired by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, continues its outreach to the general public by launching a movie club. From September 16th until June 2015, every first Thursday evening of the month at the cinema MK2 Quai de Seine (Paris 19), everyone is welcome to come and watch an international documentary and discuss the movie afterwards with a number of guests and experts!
10 films selected by Yann Arthus-Bertrand are programmed for the year to come.
September 16th at 20h (exceptionally a Tuesday!), the first film to be screend at this movie club will be Damnation, a documentary produced by Travis Rummel Patagonia, in partnership with Stoecker Ecological & Felt Soul Media Production, which questions the exploitation of rivers and the importance of dams in the United States.
Much like an odyssey across the United States, Damnation traces the rise of partisans dismantling dams, and awareness of the major environmental impact of these unprofitable works.
Patagonia, committed to the dismantling of obsolete and destructive dams since 1993, donates every year since 1985, 1% of its sales to environmental organizations through its movement "1% for the Planet". The GoodPlanet Foundation is beneficiary of this action..
The film, never screened in France before, will be subtitled in French for the occasion. It will be followed by a meeting and discussion with the teams of the GoodPlanet Foundation.
