Yann Arthus-Bertrand flew over the Republic of the Congo during the shooting of the movie "A thirsty World", that was presented during the 6th World Water Forum in Marseille and broadcast on France 2 in March 2012.

The Congo Basin, the tropical forest, the Congo river and its floating business.... all these photos present us a magnificent country which abounds in natural beauties.

So, in exclusivity, we present you a selection of his best photos.

The Republic of Congo (called also Congo-Brazzaville, capital to avoid any confusion with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congo-Kinshasa) includes a population of 3,8 million inhabitants.

70 % of this population concentrates around Brazzaville and Pointe Noire, the economic capital. One of the photos below presents both capitals face to face on the banks of the Congo river : Brazzaville and Kinshasa.

The Congo river , second river of the world by the average debit after the Amazon, is a part of the border between Congo and DRC.

The river Congo is the main resource of the country and is crossed by enormous barges and boats, still of colonial period, which transport the citizens on one hand and of other one of this vast nation.

The tropical rainforest extends on about both two third of the territory of the Republic of the Congo what makes it the fifteenth country in the world by the proportion of forest place setting.
